Wildlife island
Positioned within the western half of Post-Dispatch Lake, Wildlife Island is an isolated land mass comprised of tall grassland and a scattering of planted landscape trees and was created as part of the Park’s waterway restoration between 1999 and 2004. Because the island can only be accessed by boat, the most common visitors are wildlife, including a wide array of birds, insects and even eastern spiny softshell turtles. The walking path that runs along the base of Art Hill provides a great spot to view the island and using the paddleboats rented from the Boathouse will get visitors even closer to this peaceful isle.
