Successional Forest

Successional Forest offers visitors a view of a forest in the early stages of development. This area was once maintained as formal parkland with mostly mowed turf and planted landscape trees. For over 30 years, this forest community has been left to grow and evolve in a way similar to the natural process of ecological succession. Today, visitors enjoy the trails running through the 20+ acres, where native plants and wildlife flourish near the bottomlands and wetlands speckled throughout the area.
